Darkness Please, Anker Vertical Mouse

I bought a vertical mouse. For some unfathomable reason, it has a little curved window lit by an LED.

Why?

I don't know

I don't know why anyone would put an LED there. Who is looking at their mouse while using it? Who will see the light when it is covered by my hand. But that's not the worst part.

What is the worst part?

The worst part is that it doesn't turn off.

I hate LEDs on electronic gizmos; they light up a room at night and make it hard to sleep, and they waste electricity.

Usually, when I put my computer to sleep the lights turn off, but not this one. It says on. It says on. It says on.

I tried some stuff that didn't work

I tried disabling wake by mouse, but that didn't turn off power to the mouse. The lights stayed on.

I tried some stuff that worked

After dispairing, I opened the mouse and clipped one of the LED's leads. It worked. The light is off, and the mouse still works.

What can we learn from this?

Can we please stop putting LEDs in everything? It's not cool. Please, thank you, and good afternoon.
